COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (May 11, 2010) The Rams won against the Boston College Eagles in the first round of the MCLA National Championship games on Tuesday, but the 10-7 win was hard fought.

“BC is a great team and I knew going in that they were much better than their No. 15 seed.  I thought we had to play well to win and we certainly were lucky to get out of this one today,” Head Coach Alex Smith said.

During the first half the Rams kept the lead over the Eagles and scored three man up goals. “Our special teams really won us this game when you look at it.  We scored four times on man-up, and that was a big difference maker for us,” Smith said.

During the second half the Eagles caught up with the Rams, trailing them by one point for a brief period of time. But in the last ten minutes with the rain pouring down, the Rams sealed the win with a three point lead.

The next round was scheduled for Wednesday, but due to weather the Rams will have to wait to face Simon Fraser on Thursday at 5:00 p.m.

“Simon Fraser is going to be really tough.  They aren’t the same team we saw earlier in the year and our guys better understand that if they don’t come to play, our season will be over.  We’re expecting a hard-fought, well-played lacrosse game.  My only hope is that we can actually play it tomorrow under weather that is somewhat decent,” Smith said.
