Three Griffins Named to MCLA All-America Teams

DENVER, Colo. – The Westminster men’s lacrosse team had three players named a MCLA Division II All-America on Monday morning.  Dallas McLellan, Matt Lambourne, and Jacob Wayman were all recognized by the MCLA for their performance during the season with the Griffins.  This is the third consecutive season that Westminster has had three players named All-America.

McLellan was named First Team All-America at goalie and becomes the first three-time All-America recipient in Westminster history.  He was also named to the first team following the 2008 season and was second team last season.  The 5-10 junior from Sandy, Utah recorded 173 saves while stopping 60.5% of the shots against him this season.  He posted 44 saves during the Griffins run to the semi-finals of the MCLA National Championship last week.

Lambourne was named Second Team All-America at defense.  This is his first All-America recognition and he becomes the fourth Griffin in history to make it at defense.  A 6-0 sophomore from Salt Lake City, Lambourne played in every game for the Griffins this season and finished with two points behind one goal and one assist.

Wayman was named Third Team All-America at midfield.  For Wayman, this is his first All-America honor and just the third midfield All-America in Westminster’s history.  The 5-11 junior from Coeur d’Alene, Idaho scored 15 goals during the season and led the team with 23 assists.  His 38 total points was second on the team and his assist total was fourth in the RMLC.

Westminster just completed a 13-8 season and advanced to the semi-finals of the MCLA National Championship.  They won the RMLC West Division championship and advanced to the RMLC championship game for a fourth consecutive season.
