USCGA Announces Incoming Class of 2015

New London, CT – The United States Coast Guard Academy Men’s Lacrosse team is excited to announce the arrival of a strong in-coming group that is part of the Class of 2015. The Bears were challenged to fill several positions vacated by graduating 1st Class cadets now serving in the fleet, but a successful recruiting season seems likely to fill the gaps. Fourteen new cadets round out the list from nine different states all across the country.

Head Coach LCDR Brian Krautler said, “We are very excited at the level of talent of this year’s incoming class. We were able to find a great group of driven and accomplished players from all over the country, at every position, to push our returners and make an immediate impact to the lineup.”

“The goal for this year’s recruiting class, as always, was to find quality young men to serve in the Coast Guard. Our next goal was to add overall depth to our team while bringing up the skill level,” said Coach Krautler. “As a coaching staff we feel like we have far exceeded those goals.”
“This is a group of well-rounded student athletes that possess the character, work-ethic and hunger to represent the Coast Guard Academy, serve their country and become Commissioned Officers in the United States Coast Guard. We are very excited that they and their families have agreed to join the Coast Guard Academy Men’s Lacrosse family.”

This year’s recruiting class has the ability to produce immediate impact players for this upcoming year. These fourteen talented incoming fourth-class cadets will join a Bears team that lost eight players to graduation from last year’s squad that finished 2nd of eight teams in the PCLL Division 2.

Associate Head Coach Gary Weller notes, “We are very excited about adding talent and athleticism to our core of returning players. We will have a nice combination of senior leadership and talented underclassmen that can take our program to the top of the PCLL.”
