SELC 25th Anniversary Team Announced
Atlanta, GA: The SouthEastern Lacrosse Conference (SELC) is celebrating their Silver Anniversary season and a 25th Anniversary team has been selected to honor players from the past three decades of the conferences history. The players on the team will be honored at the conference championships in Johns Creek, GA April 27-29.
SELC President Doug Horn commented “The conference tried to gather as many nominations as possible and from a list of over 100 players the team was narrowed to 60 players. The 25th Anniversary Team is made up of student athletes that represent 17 schools. Special thanks go to tournament sponsor LaxWorld for providing the awards and game jerseys for this team.”
Teams that have been conference members the longest or have been perennial conference powers lead the way with the most players selected. Auburn, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Tennessee and Virginia Tech placed at least 5 players each on the team. Of special mention making the team is Vanderbilt University player Dave Mooney, the first SELC tournament Offensive MVP in 1988.
Several activities are planned to recognize these players at this year’s tournament. On Saturday, April 28 at Northview High School there will be an alumni game at 10am and a half time ceremony during the first Division 1 semi-final. On Sunday there will be a 25th Anniversary Team game prior to the Division 2 Championship game. Further information will be posted on www.mcla.us/selc or contact Doug Horn (firstname.lastname@example.org) for further details.
