The 2013 MCLA National Championships will be held at Sirrine Stadium in Greenville, SC. The event will be hosted by the City of Greenville. More details to come.

“Godekeraw” Player of the Year
US Lacrosse and the MCLA have joined forces to create a Player of the Year Award which will recognize two elite MCLA players (Division I and II) who best meet the combined criteria of:
- Performance on the field
- Academic Performance
- Character and Sportsmanship
Other Award Criteria:
- Player should be a First Team MCLA All American. 2nd Teamers can be considered.
- Player must be an outstanding student with a GPA of at least 3.2
- Player must exhibit strong character and involvement in activities outside of lacrosse.
Award Committee:
The MCLA Awards Committees, which select Players of the Month and All American candidates, will develop a Watch List at the beginning of the season. This list will be comprised of student athletes the committee believes have the potential to earn this award over the course of the season.
Each month when the Awards Committees meets to select the MCLA Player of the Month they will update and release a new Watch List. The watch list will be posted monthly, including award criteria, on both MCLA and USL websites. At the conclusion of the regular season the Awards Committees will submit a ranked list of six (6) candidates, including all pertinent information. This list will be presented to the US Lacrosse “Godekeraw” MCLA Player of the Year Award Committee by the Chair of the MCLA Awards Committees. The US Lacrosse “Godekeraw” MCLA Player of the Year Award Committee will be comprised of 5 members and decision will be by majority vote:
- Larry Feldman (founder/creator of award)
- USL Men’s Game Director – Stephen Berger
- MCLA President – Tony Scazzero
- MCLA Awards Committee Chair (D1 or D2)
- Previous Years Award winner (D1 or D2)
The US Lacrosse “Godekeraw” MCLA Player of the Year Award Committee will select the annual recipients and the award will be presented annually at the MCLA National Championships.
Division I – Ted Ferrin
Attackman and Third year BYU Team Captain Ted Ferrin has a cumulative GPA 3.58. Ferrin was 2nd Team All America in 2011 and 1st Team All America in 2012. FOr the 2012 season, he shares duties of Team Service Coordinator with other captains and schedules and manages monthly team service project, including: Habitat for Humanity, Cancer Awareness Project, Sub for Santa, Rest home visits, Youth Lacrosse Service Projects, and Parents Night Out where players take care of children with autism, giving the parents an evening to themselves.
Division II – Jack Dumsa
Off the field, Attackman Jack Dumsa has graduated from Grand Valley State with a cumulative GPA 3.28 and a degree in Occupational Therapy. He has already been accepted into the University of Pittsburgh’s Masters of Occupational Therapy Program, which is rated as the 7th best program in that discipline in the nation.
Jack is a three-year captain, and broke the school record for career points (currently has 367 career points) in our last game. He is currently 24 points from becoming the all-time points leader in MCLA D-II. He is averaging 5.7 ppg this year, and leads the nation with 55 assists. He is a two-time 2nd-team All American, and is a strong All-American candidate again this year.
Jack has worked as a Home Assistant / Senior Care Provider for Holland Home Christian Living Services for the past two years. He has also volunteered for the Peer Health program, where he assisted students with a mobility disability get to and from classes, and was a Disabled Children Volunteer at local elementary school. Jack has also participated in the Senior Meals on Wheels Program in Grand Rapids, MI.
