Robert Morris University-Illinois Enters the Great Rivers Lacrosse Conference
The Great Rivers Lacrosse Conference is proud to announce Robert Morris University-Illinois’ acceptance into the MCLA. This decision was made at the conference’s meeting in St. Louis on September 15. RMU’s Head Coach, Drew Stevenson, presented the school and it’s program for acceptance into the GRLC. After a vote by the representatives of each team in the conference RMU will enter it’s first year in the MCLA as an Associate Member.
Robert Morris University-Illinois is a private, accredited, university who’s athletics are under the NAIA. RMU was founded in 1913, has 7,000 plus student and is located in Downtown Chicago.
Drew Stevenson brings his 8 years of coaching experience to Robert Morris University, Chicago newest team. Born in LaFayette, New York, just south of Syracuse, Coach Stevenson went to Division III powerhouse Roanoke College. Moving to Chicago he helped developed Ignatius College Prep and started the Brother Rice High School’s lacrosse programs.
“We expect to compete immediately,” says Stevenson. “We’ve begun our fall conditioning and skills development, preparing our players for the next level, a faster brand of lacrosse than they are use to.”
He continues, “I’m looking forward to getting the program off the ground and building a program from scratch. We have a good nucleus to start and are actively recruiting the classes of 2013 and 2014, all positions. We expect to recruit great young men of character and dedication to work hard in academics, service and lacrosse.”
