Div I and II Nike Players of the Month for March 2013
The Men’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association is proud to announce the Division I Nike Player of the Month for March 2013. The MCLA Awards Committee reviewed nominations for Nike Player of the Month from Division I coaches. The award is based on a player’s on-field performance during MCLA games for the month of March.
Division I – Carson Barton
Carson Barton tallied 43 points (25 G, 18 A) in seven games (6.1 PPG) during March, four against top 25 teams. He scored 3 G, 2 A, as well as 1 caused turnover, in a one goal loss to Chapman. Carson, the team captain, also had 5 G, 3 A in another one goal loss to BYU. Against Davenport, he contributed 5 G and 2 A in a dramatic come from behind victory (4 G, 2 A in the fourth quarter). He finished the month with 4 G, 3 A against Utah and 3 G against UC Santa Barbara. At the end of March, Carson was leading Division 1 in scoring.
Division II – Dominic Scalzo
Dominic Scalzo is the offensive leader for Palm Beach Atlantic offense and contributed 31 points (26 G, 5A) in five games (6.2 PPG) during March. This offensive output was against teams all ranked in the top 25 at the time of the game [Kennesaw State (25), Grand Valley State (2), SCAD (20), Western Washington (18), and Sam Houston State (10)]. PBA went 4-1 during this span with their only loss to SCAD.
