BERKELEY, Calif. -- The Cal-Berkeley men's lacrosse program is eyeing a repeat trip to the MCLA National Championships powered by Under Armour and the Bears have a stiff schedule to prepare them for the postseason.
Cal is playing a 14-game regular season slate that includes five teams that finished in the Top 15 of the final MCLA poll along with four tournament squads, highlighted by national champion Chapman (March 25) and runner-up Cal Poly (April 15) at home.
"We have a strong schedule against talented, well-coached teams," said Cal coach Ned Webster. "We had a competitive and productive fall, and we're excited for the next phase of the journey to begin."
The Bears will compete at the Pac-12 Shootout at UCLA on Feb. 18-19 when they will square off with Southern Cal and Washington. In addition, Cal will face Utah on March 13 in a fundraising game for the Oakland Lacrosse Club.
The Bears graduate just three seniors off last year's outfit that lost by two goals to semifinalist Georgia Tech in the first round. Cal also took Cal Poly to the limit in the WCLL championship game before falling by a lone goal.
