Wheelchair Lax Demo at MCLAs
IRVINE, Calif. – Wheelchair Lacrosse USA, the governing body for wheelchair lacrosse in the country, will hold a demonstration at the outdoor rink at UC Irvine as part of the 2017 MCLA National Championships powered by Under Armour.
The demonstration will occur on Tuesday, May 9, at 5:15 p.m. at the outdoor rink located just to the northeast of the four tournament game fields by the main fan entrance. The timing will coincide roughly with the break between the two quarterfinal rounds.
The members of the Wheelchair Lacrosse USA San Diego chapter will have an interactive clinic where youngsters and adults who have their lacrosse gear can experience the wheelchair game. This will be followed by a live scrimmage conducted by the members of WLUSA, showcasing the speed and physicality of the sport.
"Wheelchair lacrosse is pushing the boundaries of the sport and introducing this incredible game to a whole new field of players,” said Ryan Baker, founder and president of WLUSA. “We are honored to attend the 2017 MCLA National Championships. Our demo at the event will be an awesome opportunity for WLUSA to continue to grow the game.”
The event is free for those who are attending nationals.
“We’re very excited to have Wheelchair Lacrosse USA as part of our MCLA National Championship experience,” said tournament director Matt Holman. “These guys are really good and love the sport of lacrosse, so it will be a great event for our fans while bringing awareness to their worthy cause.”
