FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- Unranked Colorado State pulled off one of the biggest upsets of the 2018 season on Thursday night, handing No. 3 and defending national champion Grand Canyon its first loss of the season, 7-6.
Photojournalist Lance Wendt was on hand to catch the action for MCLA.us, with his photo gallery below.
The game started slowly with a scoreless first quarter before the Lopes netted a pair for a 2-0 edge at the end of the first half.
Colorado State slowly chipped away at the lead in the final 30 minutes, bolstered by fantastic goalie play from junior goalie Frank Culhane.
The Rams managed to take a 7-5 lead late in the game and hang on for the win.
