St. Thomas Leads MCLA Division II Bracket
ATLANTA – After finishing with a 12-1 record and winning the rugged Upper Midwest Lacrosse Conference (UMLC) title, St. Thomas has been tabbed as the No. 1 seed in the 2018 MCLA Division II National Championships powered by Under Armour.
The Tommies are one of six teams from the UMLC to earn an invitation to nationals. No. 2 seed North Dakota State, No. 3 Minn.-Duluth, No. 4 St. John’s, No. 5 Grand Valley State and No. 10 Dayton were also selected.
2018 MCLA DIVISION II CHAMPIONSHIP BRACKET
The Southwestern Lacrosse Conference (SLC), the Western Collegiate Lacrosse League (WCLL) and the SouthEastern Lacrosse Conference (SELC) each received a pair of bids.
The SLC had No. 11 Cal State Fullerton and No. 12 Cal State San Marcos selected while the WCLL had No. 8 Sierra Nevada and No. 13 UC Davis. The SELC had No. 6 Kennesaw State and No. 9 Florida Gulf Coast chosen.
“I really feel like we have the 16 best teams in the country heading to Salt Lake City,” said Gary Podesta, the MCLA’s Director of Competition. “The committee has done a very thorough job vetting all of these teams and I thank them for their time.”
The 2018 MCLA National Championships powered by Under Armour begins on Monday, May 7, with the first round followed by Tuesday’s quarterfinals. The semifinals will be held on Thursday followed by Saturday’s championship games.
