DENVER – After rolling to the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse Conference (RMLC) Division I championship last spring, Colorado has been installed as the favorite in 2020 according to the conference preseason coaches poll.
The Buffaloes (13-3), who advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2019 MCLA National Championships sponsored by New Balance, snagged four of the six first-place votes to narrowly grab the top spot.
Brigham Young (8-7), which saw its record streak of qualifying for nationals end in ’19, is just a point behind Colorado. The Cougars had one top vote.
Just three points behind BYU in the third chair is Utah Valley (11-4). The Wolverines stunned BYU in the RMLC semifinals last spring, falling to Colorado in the title game. Utah Valley also received a first-place vote.
Rounding out the top four is conference newcomer Texas (9-4). The Longhorns join the RMLC after participating in the Lone Star Alliance (LSA) for most of its existence.
Oklahoma (6-8), which is ranked sixth, also joined the conference from the LSA, giving the RMLC an automatic qualifying berth to nationals once again.
