ATLANTA – After a superior effort in a setback to MCLA Division I Florida, North Florida freshman netminder Glenn Mandel earned MCLA Division II PEARL Goalie of the Week honors for the period ending Feb. 2.
At 6-foot-5 and 200 pounds, Mandel fills up the cage and he did just that against the heavily favored Gators. The Ponte Vedra, Fla., product made 30 saves on Saturday evening in the Ospreys’ 13-2 loss in Gainesville.
“I couldn’t be prouder of Glenn’s performance against Florida,” said North Florida coach Tucker Clancy. “He stood on his head and carried the team for the majority of the day.”
For his efforts in earning the Pearl’s Performance of the Week, Mandel will receive a prize package from Guardian Pearl, a ball that lasts longer than the rest and never greases. Guardian Pearl is the proud partner of the MCLA.
