PITTSBURGH – Heinz Field is at capacity as the Cinderella of all Cinderellas – the last seed selected – has arrived in Steel City for a matchup with the equally improbably Pitt squad in the semifinals of the 2020 Virtual MCLA Tournament presented by New Balance.

It’s difficult to come up with more superlatives for these two battle-hardened squads.

Both were expected to get pink-slipped in the first round – Tennessee by Cal Poly, Pitt by Colorado – but have clawed their way to within a step of a virtual championship bid.

The Panthers have a slight edge in student-body size, but both of these teams have exceeded expectations.

After getting by Cal Poly, No. 32 Tennessee took down Colorado State and a feisty Buffalo outfit.

No. 29 Pittsburgh kept cruising after the win over the Buffaloes, dispatching favorites Auburn and Texas.

Now a ticket to the Big Game is on the line.
