San Marcos, TX (February 8, 2009) - Texas Tech lost suffered it's first loss this season to the Bobcats. The Red Raiders came out flat to start the game and never fully recovered.
Tech looked like they were still trying to wake up throughout the first half. They ended the half down 7-1, and the only reason it was that close was due to the play of senior goalie Landon Ludlow.
Once the Red Raiders decided to start playing they went on a solid run behind Clayton Schneider's 6 goals in addition to 2 goals provided by freshman Neil Gordon.
Tech looks to bounce back against the Aggies in College Station as the showcase game for the high school tournament.
San Marcos, TX (February 8, 2009) – The Bobcats earned their first victory of the season with a win over visiting Texas Tech on a windy Sunday in San Marcos. Texas State came to play and jumped out to an early lead on the Red Raiders.
The Bobcats dominated the first half of play, controlling the ball on offense and playing solid team defense, and took a 7-1 lead into halftime.
Texas Tech came out firing in the second half, and went on a nice run stealing some of the momentum away from the Bobcats. Texas State recovered and went on to win the game 10-9. Texas Tech battled hard, but was never able to take a lead in the ball game.
Texas State attackmen Harrison Parr and Matt Malcolm led the Bobcats offensively; each with 3 goals and 3 assists. The Bobcat defense was led by long poles Andrew Seibert, Billy Cook, and Jesse Hermann who kept the Red Raiders’ talented attackmen at bay for much of the game.
Texas State will be in action again this coming Saturday, February 14, in a Valentine’s Day matchup against division rival Texas. The game will be played at the University of Texas Intramural Fields in Austin, TX.
