Game Commentary Provided by Teams

Great team game today. We came out flat and let Santa Cruz jump out to a 5-1 lead at the end of the first. We started to really clamp down on defense and limit their quality looks on cage. Defensemen Jack Bevins, Mike Bowers, and Evan Turner all played great defense today. Goalie Graham Marshall had another sensational day in cage saving 18 shots out of 35 shots seen. The offense was well rounded and passed the ball very well. They aslo took advantage of a tenaciously pressuring Banana Slug defense, driving around lunging defensemen on the perimeter and creating quality looks.

Thanks to Santa Cruz for hosting, a very classy team!
With 2 of our 4 attack not suiting up, Slug goalie Weed stepped up and played short stick scoring the first goal in the 3rd quarter. The game ball went to Weed for his ability to adapt to the given situation.

Other than that it was a pretty straight forward game surrounded by a lot of shouting from both sides of the field. SOU stuck around to heckle our star #11 Will Jaffe who demonstrated his ability to keep his cool and responded with 4 goals and 3 assists.

Santa Cruz came out strong with the sentiment left over from the 4th quarter of their previous game. They quickly took a dominant lead and held it till the 4th quarter. Slug FOGO Zack-O stole almost every face off other than the few that official Chuck Byers disqualified. Chuck struck a nerve with both teams, and Willamette received multiple conduct fouls for venting. Over all a fun game to kick off the spring break.
