CORVALLIS, Ore. -- Junior attackman Mark Pederson scored three goals to lead Oregon State to a 10-7 victory over Boise State in an MCLA Division I game Sunday afternoon.
Senior middie Jordan Philips added three points on two goals and an assist, junior middie Matt McKinney scored two goals and sophomore middie Wes Campbell had two goals to help the Beavers improve to 4-2.
Sophomore attackman David Fiske and sophomore middie Mike Clement each added a goal to round out the scoring for Oregon State.
“We struggled in the beginning of the season,” Pederson said. “But today, we came together and won. It felt good.”
In defeat, junior attackman Chase Hanchett scored three goals, sophomore middie Matt Gray registered three points on two goals and an assist and sophomore attackman Kyle Moulin added two goals for Boise State, which fell to 0-4.
Senior goalie Shawn Carman and senior attackman Teddy Hicks both dished an assist, and Carman saved 17 shots.
“Lack of offensive production is hindering our ability to stay in games,” Boise State head coach Brian Sanderson said. “We’re depending too much on our defense.”
Oregon State didn't play as well in our home opener as we had hoped--a combination of sloppy transition and careless offense, but our defense played well, our intensity was good, and we very much enjoyed the game. Thanks for coming down Boise State. Good luck this season.
