Great conditions for a very competitive and physical game. Valley was able to move the ball well and find good looks on net. The defense had a serious challenge with the Hope attackmen who are all very talented players. Weber was outstanding with 6 goals despite the pressure from the D. A lot of penalties and tough calls kept the Lakers man down for a good chunk of the game. Cam Holding had a great outing with 11 points. Defender Shawn Windey played great holding Campbell to just 2 points. Another solid day for Steve Johns in net. Hope College is very talented and well coached and are well on their way to becoming one of the top teams in the CCLA. Thanks to Holland Christian High for hosting, and thanks and good luck to Hope in the playoffs.
GVSU put on a scoring display with their high powered offense. #19 Cameron Holding was the show with nine goals and two assists for GVSU including a variety of fakes and finishes. Hope tried to hang tough. Eric Weber had six goals for the Dutchmen and Goalie Brian Kunkler came in in the second half and had some flashy doorstop saves (13 total). The highlight for Hope may have been Duncan Wierengo's takeaway at the midfield followed by a bounce shot goal from his LSM position. Despite Hope's efforts The Lakers were too much for the Dutch tonight.
