Central Conneticut State University (CCSU) traveled to Briarcliff College with what expected to be a battle of heavyweights in the Pionner Collegeiate Lacrosse Leagues Divsion 2 conference. The game lived up to its expectations with every ground ball, clear, and shot being fought for. CCSU was led by Attackman Eric Chartier with a 4 point night and goalie Nick Gaeta who stopped 19 Briarcliff shots. CCSU is off until April 5th when Bridgewater State College travels to play CCSU.
The game in the first quarter was even with both sides tallying one goal a piece. The game was physical and ground balls and clearing seemed to be the factor. The second quarter saw Briarcliffe taking more shots and walking off the field at halftime with a 4-1 lead. That seemed to be the deciding factor for Briarcliffe when in the third they only out scored a physical, athletic Central Connecticut team by 1. The fourth quarter was dead even with both teams putting the ball in the net twice. Game play was physical and saw both teams laying hits in the open field and hustling for groundballs. Both teams walked off the field with a 1-1 record. Briarcliffe with their first win and Central Connecticut with their first loss.
