This compelling quarterfinal matchup between #4 Grove City and #5 Grand Valley State proved to be as exciting as billed. This was a back and forth battle all the way, with Grand Valley leading by 1 for much of the game. Each team scored 5 times in the 4th quarter, with the final regulation goal coming from #1 Josh Hostetler in the final :45. Each team kept their intensity high and their heads in the game. Grove City's defense had a difficult time accounting for the backdoor passes to #19 Cam Holding. Much credit to Coach Greer and the rest of GVSU for their effective gameplan. GCC did not find an answer to Holding, as he notched 7 goals with his lethal lefty shot. Hostetler led Grove City with 5 goals and an assist, trailed by #26 Irwin and #19 Stiff with 5 and 4 points respectively. Andrew Dymski set a personal record by tallying 31 saves.
Congratulations to GVSU on a great win. We hope to face you again next season.
Where did Grove City come from? Great game by GC. It was a very intense and clean game. Only one penalty from each team. Outside of the hooting and hollering, Grove City had the best goaltending I've seen all year. Great game #47. # 1 had an outstanding game as well as the rest of their attack. Grove City was fast and tenacious. The lakers played well outside of some mental breakdowns that GC capitalized on. Valley is looking forward to playing GC in the regular season next year. Grove City is another team on the rise that brings more great lacrosse and credibility to the CCLA. Arguably the strongest conference in the MCLA D2.
