Game Commentary Provided by Teams

In Tech's first game of the season the Yellow Jackets scored qith 1:12 remaining in the first overtime to defeat the Vanderbilt Commodores. Tech jumped out to a quick 3-0 first quarter lead behind goals from Cory Borgel, Casey Timmerman and Kyle Gurny. The story line was the goal tending of Sam Karpowicz who turned away 23 shots during the game including many one on one Vanderbilt opportunities. At the half Tech led 5-3 and pushed that lead to 8-4 with 10 minutes left in the game. But Vandy was not going away. The Commodore's ran off 4 goals in a 4 minute span to tie the game. With under two minutes to play Vanderbilt had a man up chance but the Tech defense stood tall. Each team had a possession in the extra stanza of play but a costly penalty against Vanderbilt led to the man up goal by Senior Alex Del Pozzo. Tech wins 9-8 in an early season match up.
