San Antonio TX - In the second game of a back to back conference weekend, the Gentlemen finished off the Roadrunners of UT San Antonio 13-6.
In true Gentlemen fashion, a team effort was used to earn a hard fought Lone Star Alliance win down south. Matching his goal scoring effort from the day before, Freshman Colton Cowley pumped in 4 goals to lead Centenary. Also helping in the scoring effort, Juniors Rob Grand and Michael Hiller each put in three, while Freshmen David Lee, Taylor McCook and hometown boy Senior Adam Nerio with his second of the weekend, added one each.
All five long pole defensemen played significant minutes with Sophomore Alex Tan, and Senior Matthew Bumgardner doing the bulk of the work and more importantly securing majority of the ground balls from the back end. Junior Goalie Daniel Ewing used his clearing outlets to spark offensive attacks the entire game. At the faceoff X Grand also dominated winning 90% of the draws to secure vital possessions throughout.
The Gents welcome the nationally ranked Bearkats of Sam Houston State for their home opener February 27th at Mayo Field on the campus of Centenary College.
I would like to say for being back in the league and competing at a high level we did good. Now we have to shave some rough spots and get back to do what we do best. Congrats to Centenary in there win on the road.
