An intense battle between two familiar teams to kick off the MCLA regular season. This was a back and forth match, with the score tied for much of the game. Transitions were sloppy and there were a lot of bad turnovers on both sides, particularly in the first half. Pitt is a big and physical team. They cleared well and showed good patience on offense. Grove City, after some first half jitters, got into a rhythm in the 4th quarter, outscoring Pitt 4 to 1 in the period, led by 2 goals from midfielder Jonathan Althausen. Chris Kellner scored the final goal of the game with about 3 minutes remaining. Pitt turned up the heat and had a number of good looks at the cage. Kellen Quackenbush led a balanced offensive attack with 3 goals, while Andrew Dymski notched 16 saves for the game. Credit to Pitt for a hard fought game and good luck in the rest of your season!
Back and forth all night long--with both teams making early season errors and commiting costly turnovers. Grove City scored to go ahead late in the game. Pitt got an EMO opportunity late in the game, but an errant pass rolled all the way down to the other end-and when Pitt got ball back in the offensive end with seconds remaining--Dymski made his last save of the night.
