The Claremont Cougars started the 2010 season with a victory against the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. With many alumni and fans looking on, the Cougars won with a score of 11-8. Claremont dominated the first half, scoring 5 goals and holding the Rebels to just 2. However, UNLV began to fight back in the second half, at one point closing the gap to just 2 goals. Bolstered by the return of senior midfielder Brock Olson, who spent the last spring studying abroad in Denmark, the Cougars fought on, scoring a total of 6 goals in the second half. Freshman attackman Viken Douzdjian scored 3 goals in the first game of his college career. Sophomore Zach Ingrasci led the midfield with 3 goals and 1 assist. In the end, a terrific stand by sophomore goalie Sam Bennet, 15 saves, sealed the victory for Claremont.
