Atlanta, GA (September 8, 2025) – The Board of Directors of the Men’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association (MCLA) held their annual summer planning meeting August 8 - 9, 2025 in San Diego, CA to align and take action on any pressing topics needing to be implemented in the upcoming year.
All regions of the MCLA were represented at the board meeting and two Executive Committee Members elections occurred.
There were significant discussions around the 2026 MCLA National Championships Powered by New Balance, which will take place in Richmond, Virginia.
“This year’s meeting was productive as usual. One of the key conversations was around establishing written criteria for At-Large bids to the national tournament. Hopefully having written criteria will provide some guidance to teams as they move forward toward the 2026 season,” said MCLA President Ken Lovic.
The criteria was previously released and can be read here.
Additional information coming out of the San Diego meeting includes:
Shot Clock Rule: The Board is in agreement and would like to remind teams that for the 2026 season, the current NCAA rules of the 80/60 second shot clock will be required for all teams.
Consolation Games: The Board voted to eliminate consolation games at the MCLA National Championships.
Elections: Two board positions were up for election. Gary Podesta and Jason Stockton were re-elected to those positions.
MCLA teams will receive a recap of the summer Board Meeting from Conference Directors at their upcoming Fall Meetings.
