LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Atlantic Lacrosse Conference (ALC) has announced that it will be expanding its Division I roster for the 2022 along with adding a Division II component this spring.

Pittsburgh and Temple have moved from the Continental Lacrosse Conference (CLC) to the ALC, joining the North subdivision along with Georgia Washington, Liberty and West Virginia. Also joining the North subdivision will be James Madison, which moves to the MCLA this spring.

Virginia Tech will move from the North to the ALC South subdivision in 2022, joining Clemson, East Carolina, NC State and Tennessee.

“Adding Temple, Pitt and James Madison to our membership is really exciting,” said ALC director Kyle McQuillan. “We’ll have two very competitive subdivisions this spring with numerous teams in the hunt for the postseason.”

After starting as a conference with just a Division I entity, the ALC has created a six-team D-II league that will have an automatic qualifier to the 2022 MCLA National Championship presented by New Balance.

The conference will consist of Appalachian State, Coastal Carolina, Elon, UNC-Charlotte, UNC-Wilmington and Wake Forest, all of which moved over from the SouthEastern Lacrosse Conference (SELC).

“Having a Division II league completes the vision that we had for the ALC when we first formed,” said McQuillan. “We believe that it has serious potential on the national level.”

The ALC will have its conference tournament from April 22-24 and April 30-May 1 at a location to be determined.
