DURANGO, Colo. – Zane Bilgrav, who was both an assistant and head coach at Fort Lewis, was posthumously inducted into the lacrosse program’s Hall of Fame this fall. Bilgrav passed away in May after losing his battle with cancer.

Bilgrav, a native of Baltimore and former resident of Hawaii, was the assistant coach at Fort Lewis from 1997-98 for John Robinette before helping Robinette start the youth lacrosse league in Durango. He was an assistant for both the Durango middle school and high school lacrosse teams before being named the head coach at Fort Lewis in 2010. He remained in that capacity until 2012. Two of his sons played lacrosse for Fort Lewis.

Off the field, Bilgrav co-founded and directed the Durango Mountain Camp, a national renowned organization that helps dyslexic youngsters.
