ATLANTA – With back-to-back solid road performances, Colorado State junior netminder Charlie Bibaud is the MCLA Division I PEARL Goalie of the Week for the period ending March 16.
The Rams traveled to Boise for a pair of contests. In the opener against Boise State on Saturday, the Los Gatos, Calif., product made 17 as Colorado State registered the 11-8 victory. It was just the second time all season the Broncos were held to single digits.
The weekend culminated with a battle against Simon Fraser. The Red Leafs were coming off an upset over No. 16 Colorado, but Bibaud ensured that the Rams would not suffer the same fate. He made 15 saves as CSU doubled up Fraser, 20-10.
For the session, Bibaud posted 32 saves against 18 goals against – a 64.0 save percentage.
“Chuck Bibaud is the heart and soul of this squad, embodying hard work and backing up our core values with relentless action,” said Colorado State coach Ryan MacDonald. “His blue-collar charisma is contagious, continually pushing those around him to be their best. We don't know which represents it best, the Carhart logo he sketched on his helmet or his signature gameday Carhart long sleeve.
“Chuck is playing the best lacrosse we’ve seen, bringing a carefree but locked-in mentality and making unreal saves—not just this past weekend but throughout our six-game stretch. Chuck continues to raise the standard for this dangerous Rams team, whether it’s a breakaway stop, a clutch clear, or with his electric energy.”
As the recipient of the PEARL Goalie of the Week honor, Bibaud will receive a PEARL swag bag of goodies that will include PEARL lacrosse balls – the official ball of the MCLA.
