ATLANTA – After corralling all but one first-place vote in the opening ranking, Brigham Young has swept the board in Week 2 of the MCLA Division I New Balance Weekly Coaches poll, which was released on Wednesday.
The Cougars (7-0), who have pushed their winning streak to 26 games, captured all 26 first-place votes this week to push them over 40 points clear of the field.
It was a tight race for the second spot, with Northeastern (6-0) narrowly edging out Cal Poly (7-0) for No. 2 by a scant two points. The Huskies have a key non-conference game against No. 6 Liberty this weekend while the Mustangs tangle with Cal.
Florida remains static in the No. 4 spot with a big weekend in the Lone Star State looming, including a clash with No. 11 Texas on Saturday. Utah Valley’s only loss is still the Gators (3-1), leaving the Wolverines in fifth for a second week.
The biggest mover of the week was Colorado (3-2), which jumped up four spots to No. 16 while Arizona State (3-4) took the biggest tumble, dropping from No. 8 to 15. Boston College (4-2) entered the ranking this week, bouncing Oregon (3-3).
