ATLANTA – A week ago Utah held a narrow, one-point lead for the top spot and was tied with the most first place votes. This week, the margin is far more comfortable for the Utes.
Utah (6-0) swept 20 of the 27 first place votes and sits ahead of No. 2 and defending national champion Grand Canyon (5-0) by a comfortable 25-point margin in the Under Armour MCLA Division I Weekly Coaches Poll.
The Lopes managed to stay in the second chair by a scant two points as No. 3 Chapman (7-0) actually took four first place votes to Grand Canyon’s three.
Michigan State (7-0) sits firmly at No. 4 followed by No. 5 Colorado (5-1).
The Spartans have a monster matchup with CCLA rival and No. 14 Davenport (5-0) on Friday night while the Buffaloes entertain No. 16 Arizona State (3-5) the same evening.
Texas A&M (8-3) departed the poll this week to make way for No. 22 Georgia (4-3).
