ATLANTA- After claiming their second MCLA Division II National Championship, the Grand Valley State Lakers (14-3) have claimed the top spot in the final MCLA Division II New Balance Coaches Poll. The Lakers beat St. Thomas for the second time in two weeks in the tournament final and collected all 25 first-place votes.
The Tommies (15-2) who had been in first in every regular season poll finished second.
Cal State San Marcos (16-2) who fell to the Lakers in the semifinals finished third in the poll.
College of Idaho (16-2), the other semifinalist, was ranked fourth after reaching the semifinals for the first time since 2019.
Air Force (10-2) rounds out the top five after falling in overtime in the quarterfinals.
