Field Set for LSA-II Tournament

FORT WORTH, Texas – The top two teams from each of the four subdivisions within the Lone Star Alliance Division II membership have qualified for the 2018 LSA tournament that will begin this weekend at home sites.

The two qualifiers from each of the subdivisional qualifiers will square off against each other in the first round before sending the four winners to the semifinals and finals at the University of Texas in Austin on April 21-22.

In the Central, UT-Dallas (6-5, 5-0) will entertain Oklahoma State (6-3, 5-1) a week after the Comets defeated the Cowboys in the regular season finale.

LSA DIVISION II TOURNAMENT BRACKET

Defending LSA champion and top East seed Louisiana (7-4, 5-1) hosts Rice (6-1, 5-1) after beating the Owls earlier in the season.

The winners of those two games will meet in the first semifinal in Austin at 10 a.m.

On the other side of the bracket, North top seed Missouri State (9-2, 6-0) – which is the defending champion out of the now-defunct Great Rivers Lacrosse Conference (GRLC) – matches up with Washington (Mo.).

The winner of that contest faces the winner of the South matchup between top-seeded Baylor (9-2, 5-0) and Trinity (6-3, 3-2).

“The Lone Star Alliance Division II is the biggest conference in the MCLA, meaning the teams that have qualified for the postseason have truly earned it,” said LSA director Jason Zantjer. “It’s also a league that has two defending conference champions, so the competition will be stiff.”

LSA tournament games will be free of charge to the general public and local youth and high school teams are encouraged to attend.
