ATLANTA – The Men’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association, the preeminent club league in North America, is pleased to announce the hiring of E.J. Freeman as the new Director of Media and Communications. Freeman replaces Jac Coyne, who filled the roles since 2016 and retired at the conclusion of the ’25 campaign.
Freeman is no stranger to the MCLA. The Atlanta native has been on the Georgia Tech staff since 2009, assuming associate head coach duties since ’16. There he helped write game stories along with social media promotion for the perennial national participants.
“I really believe in the MCLA and the opportunities it provides for collegiate lacrosse players and I’m excited to work with the league as a whole,” Freeman said. “There are a lot of great stories in the MCLA and I look forward to telling them.”
For the past five years, Freeman has also been the association’s director of athlete programs, coordinating the selection of All-Americans and scholar athletes for the MCLA. He performed the same role for the SouthEastern Lacrosse Conference (SELC).
In addition, Freeman was the VP and president of EJF, Inc., a commercial real estate appraisal group – a role he held since 2011.
Freeman graduated from the McCallie (Tenn.) School in 2003 and Denison (Ohio) University in 2007. He played lacrosse at both levels and was a member of the Denison conference championship team in 2004.
“You won’t find a person more invested in the success and publicity of the MCLA than E.J.,” said MCLA president Ken Lovic. “Not only does he know the sport inside and out, and the many wonderful stories that are out there, but he is a tireless worker who will keep our organization's media wing running smoothly.”
Freeman started on August 1 and can be reached via EMAIL.
