Ga. Tech’s Baro Player of Week

ATLANTA – After leading his team to a pair of ranked victories over the weekend, Georgia Tech senior Brooks Baro has been named the MCLA Division I Warrior Player of the Week for the period ending Feb. 10.

The Yellow Jackets opened the weekend on Friday against No. 25 Auburn and the Peachtree City, Ga., was a force, burying four goals against the Tigers while also setting up two others for a six-point evening.

On Sunday, the Ramblin’ Wreck tangled with No. 20 Colorado and again it was Baro leading the way with five goals and a dime in a 15-7 triumph.

For the weekend, the McIntosh High School alum amassed nine goals and three assists – a 6.0 points per game average.

“Brooks was instrumental for us this weekend,” said Georgia Tech offensive coordinator E.J. Freeman. “He was very aggressive as a dodger and was able to put a lot of pressure on the defense.

“Brooks scored several first quarter goals over the weekend that helped us get ahead early and play with a lead in both games.”

For his efforts earning the Warrior Player of the Week, Baro will receive a Warrior Burn XP2-O – a $120 value. Warrior is a proud sponsor of the MCLA.

Warrior Honor Roll

Dillon Casey, Soph. – Georgia
In wins over Boston College and Clemson, the defenseman from Charlotte combined for five caused turnovers and six ground balls.

Jared Cole, Sr. – Virginia Tech
The Hokies dispensed with James Madison, 18-10, thanks to four goals from the Ashburn, Va., product. He also gobbled up a GB.

Hunter Kirby, Jr. – Arizona
The Wildcats downed UCLA in the season opener thanks in large part to the Austin, Texas, native winning 15-of-17 faceoffs on the day.

Holden Morrison, Fr. – Clemson
The Alpharetta, Ga., attackman combined for six goals and three dimes, leading the Tigers to a weekend split against Top 10 programs.

Braden Rome, Jr. – Arizona State
The Sun Devils rolled past Utah Tech in the opener, thanks to six goals and three assists from Novato, Calif., product.

Morry Stein, Soph. – Texas
The attackman from Denver posted a double-hat trick along with two assists, leading the Long Horns to a comfortable win over USC.
