ATLANTA – After racking up some big numbers in a pair of opening season wins for the Yellow Jackets, Georgia Tech grad student Brooks Baro has been tabbed the MCLA Warrior Player of the Week in Division I for the period ending Feb. 2.

Georgia Tech and Baro opened the weekend on Friday night in a matchup with Florida State. Bolstered by seven goals and two assists from the Peachtree City, Ga., product, the Ramblin’ Wreck captured the 15-13 victory over the Seminoles.

On Sunday, Tech blew past West Virginia, 23-9, aided by two more goals and a pair of assists from Baro.

For the weekend, he amassed nine goals and four assists.

“With an opening weekend against a team we played a tight game with last season, you want to lean on your older senior players,” said Georgia Tech coach Ken Lovic. “Brooks filled that role.

“We have depended on Brooks a lot over his time and his maturity showed – him knowing when to shoot and when not to force the issue, letting the offense develop. In a tight game like we had with FSU Friday, Brooks scored the first three goals to set the tempo and then scored and assisted on the final two when it mattered most.”

For his efforts earning the Warrior Player of the Week, Baro will receive a Warrior Burn XP2-O – a $120 value. Warrior is a proud sponsor of the MCLA.
