ATLANTA – Ben Alexander enters the MCLA Hall of Fame as an outstanding player.

A seminal member of the early Sonoma State powerhouse teams, Alexander played from 1999-2002 and was one of the most difficult attackman to cover. He was twice named a First Team All-America for the Seawolves – then known as the Cossacks – and was the WCLL Offensive Player of the Year as a senior.

In that season, Alexander led Sonoma State to their first national championship, rolling past New Hampshire, Arizona, Brigham Young and defending national champion Colorado State to raise the trophy.

“Ben Alexander was always at the top of the USLIA, which made my job of staying out of the way easier,” said former Sonoma State coach Doug Carl.

“He probably should have gone in before any of the Sonoma State guys,” added Dallas Hartley, a Sonoma grad and member of the last MCLA Hall of Fame class.

“Being elected to the MCLA Hall of Fame is an incredible honor; one that brings a deep sense of gratitude and reflection,” said Alexander. “It’s humbling to be recognized alongside so many talented players and coaches.

“This honor isn’t just about personal achievement; it’s a tribute to every teammate, coach, and supporter who played a role in my journey. To be remembered as someone who made a lasting impact on the sport and the MCLA community is something I’ll carry with pride forever. Representing Sonoma State in the MCLA Hall of Fame feels almost unbelievable.

“The MCLA experience was unlike anything else I’ve ever had. It gave me the opportunity to compete at a high level while also growing as a leader and teammate. I’m truly grateful that during my time at Somona State, we were fortunate enough to make the tournament all four years I played. Taking the title in 2002 stands as one of the proudest and most unforgettable achievements in this journey.”

The induction for the MCLA Hall of Fame Class of 2025 will take place on Friday, May 9, in Round Rock, Texas. The class will be honored on Saturday in between the title games at the 2025 MCLA National Championships presented by New Balance.
