Illinois Opens Head Coach Search

CHAMPAIGN, IL – The Illinois men's lacrosse program, a member of the MCLA Division I and Upper Midwest Lacrosse Conference (UMLC), has opened its search for a head coach.

Job Description

The men’s lacrosse program at the University of Illinois is currently accepting applications for the position of head coach. As the head coach, you will play a critical role in the development and growth of the team, both on and off the field. Your leadership and guidance will be instrumental in fostering a positive team culture that promotes excellence, sportsmanship, and teamwork.

Essential duties include developing and implementing a comprehensive training program for the team that includes skill development, physical conditioning, and strategy sessions. Additionally, the coach may be asked to assist student officers in maintaining/building relationships with alumni/friends of the program; recruiting and retaining players, through outreach to local high schools; team management (i.e. scheduling, budgeting, team travel, equipment/apparel management, personnel management).

As the head coach of the Illinois club lacrosse team, you will be a key representative of the University of Illinois and Campus Recreation's sport club program.

In this role, you will be responsible for upholding the integrity and reputation of both the university and the program. To fulfill this responsibility, you must adhere to all policies and procedures established by Campus Recreation's sport club program, as well as all applicable local, state, and federal laws, and rules and regulations set forth by league and national governing bodies. By complying with these guidelines, you will help ensure that the club lacrosse team operates with the highest level of professionalism and integrity.

Coaches must renew their application each academic year. Continuation of coaching/instructing duties is not a right and will be voted upon by the Club membership.

Certifications & Licenses
• Meet and maintain any UMLC and MCLA requirements throughout the duration of each season.
• It is recommended that the head coach be certified in CPR, First Aid, and AED.

Desired Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree
• Previous experience playing or coaching lacrosse at the collegiate level

Compensation
• Compensation is commensurate with experience.
• All compensation will be provided by the men’s lacrosse club. The coach is not an employee of the University of Illinois and will not receive compensation or benefits from the University.

Final offers of appointment are contingent upon meeting all requirements for coaches and instructors set forth by the leadership of the club, and the successful completion of a background check.
