It was New Year’s night and the 15,000 fans inside the Pepsi Center were ready to kick off the 2016 National Lacrosse League season with a contest between hometown Colorado and visiting Georgia. As the players took their positions awaiting the opening whistle, the two goalies stood at either end of the surface and looked at each other.
