GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Davenport sophomore midfielder Josh Jubenville was selected by the Toronto Rock during the National Lacrosse League’s 2017 Draft on Monday night.

Jubenville was taken in the fourth round with the 40th overall pick.

“Josh is one of the hardest working players I have ever coached,” said Davenport coach Chris Esquivel. “He is a high-motor player who leads by example in everything he does. With Josh's work ethic and commitment to bring max effort into everything he does, it does not surprise me that he has the opportunity to compete at the next level. I am extremely proud of him.”

Jubenville only played two games with the Panthers in 2017 before suffering a season-ending injury, but is expected to be a big part of Davenport’s midfield this spring.

After playing four years for the Windsor Clippers in Junior B, Jubenville played for Junior A Six Nation Arrows this past summer. He helped the Arrows win the Minto Cup, playing primarily as a defender. Six Nations allowed an average of 4.30 goals against in its Minto Cup run.

The Rock’s draft also included players from NCAA Division I programs Brown, Denver and Penn State.

Jubenville expects to finish his degree in sports management at Davenport before joining the NLL.
