It was during a fall ball scrimmage against a local Dallas men's league team when the coaches received the first inkling of what Southern Methodist was about to accomplish this season.

Midway through the contest, SMU defensive coordinator Jason Gildea turned to head coach Karl Lynch and said, "They all play our style now even as freshmen."
