MCLA Amends Eligibility Policy

ATLANTA, Georgia – The Men’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association (MCLA) Board of Directors voted to amend the league’s eligibility policy at their annual Summer Meeting in Chicago. 

The board voted to amend a previously approved policy that excluded players who had been on spring rosters at NCAA, NAIA, and NJCAA schools from receiving a fifth-year of eligibility in the MCLA.  The board voted to amend the policy to grant student-athletes who had been on spring rosters for NCAA, NAIA, and NJCAA schools a fifth-year of eligibility. 

In addition, the Board of Directors voted to add an eligibility clock for five years that begins on the earlier of:

• The first academic term in which the student-athlete enrolls full time at any college or university, including a two-year college or international institution, or
• The beginning of the academic year immediately following the student-athlete's 19th birthday.

It should be noted that no changes were made to the previous requirements regarding full-time enrollment and the eligibility check process.
