ST. LOUIS – Miami (Ohio) University built a second half lead against Indiana and held on for a 7-6 victory, giving the Redhawks its first Great Rivers Lacrosse Conference Division I championship on Sunday.
Miami earns an automatic bid to the 2017 MCLA National Championships powered by Under Armour, which will be held from May 8-13 in Orange County, Calif.
It’s the first-ever bid to nationals for the Redhawks.
Miami managed to take a 5-4 lead at halftime against the Hoosiers, and then turned the second half into a grind. The Redhawks outscored Indiana 2-1 in the final 30 minutes to grab the hardware.
Miami will find out on Sunday night its seed and first round opponent at the MCLA Championships, which will be unveiled on MCLA.us.
