RENO, Nev. -- The University of Nevada men's lacrosse team hosted it's inaugural Hall of Fame induction ceremony where three prominent Wolf Pack representatives were honored with Hall of Fame plaques.

Curt Wegener, John Henry Giddings and Andy Socha were inducted as Nevada's first class to this prestigious fraternity.

Wegener was critical to the creation of the program his itself. His efforts to find coaches and equipment while also raising enough funds allowed the team to start in 1999. The love of lacrosse left an impression that has remained a key ingredient of Nevada lacrosse.

If it wasn't for Giddings, Nevada would not be where it is today. In the early 2000s, lacrosse was still largely unknown in the state. There was no school support, practice locations we unreliable, recruitment was difficult and there were few teams to actually play. It was Giddings leadership and relentless commitment that kept the team alive during those years and set the groundwork for all that Nevada has accomplished since.

Socha was the first coach to walk the sidelines wearing the Nevada name. His records were not indicative of the effort and work that he did to keep the team together while playing against more established teams. He led his team with strong leadership and determination, while always encouraging everyone to play their best while representing the Blue and Silver.

The Hall of Fame weekend was capped off with the alumni game, which was great fun for all. Many times, the Nevada players heard the older guys comment on how far the team has come, and it's thanks to the dedication of these three individuals.
