ATLANTA – After leading the Huskies to a pair of rivalry wins, including a big Top 20 victory, Northeastern graduate attackman Wynton Bastian is the MCLA Division I Warrior Player of the Week for the period ending April 13.
The eighth-ranked Huskies opened the weekend on Friday at Boston College in the annual Red Bandana Game, honoring Eagle lacrosse alum and 9/11 hero Welles Crowther. Thanks to four goals and an assist from the Carlsbad, Calif., product, Northeastern captured the 13-6 triumph over the No. 16 Eagles.
On Saturday, the Huskies traveled to New Hampshire for another CLC showdown and Bastian delivered again, this time for four goals and three assists in a 16-11 win. He was able to eclipse the career 100-point plateau in that game in just his second year with the program.
“It was a big weekend for us, as we’ve been working to put together 60-minute games on both ends of the field,” said Northeastern coach Tom Duca. “Wynton made sure that was happening this weekend on the offensive side, whether he was feeding it or scoring one-v-one, off-ball and on EMO.
“He lets the ball find him and doesn’t try to force it. He’s a high-IQ player that makes those around him better as he attracts a lot of attention. His experience and leadership have been a huge addition to the team the past two seasons and looking forward to a strong push the rest of the way.”
For his efforts earning the Warrior Player of the Week, Bastian will receive a Warrior Burn XP2-O head – a $120 value. Warrior is a proud sponsor of the MCLA.
