FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. -- Northern Arizona University Men’s Lacrosse Program is currently accepting applications for the position of Head Coach, effective immediately. This is a unique opportunity to lead a respected MCLA Division II program located in one of the country’s most scenic college towns.
About the Program
NAU Men’s Lacrosse competes in the MCLA’s Southwestern Lacrosse Conference (SLC) and seeks a mature, experienced coach to foster a culture of accountability, professionalism, academic success, and athletic excellence. The next head coach will play a central role in program development, recruiting, and ensuring continued competitive success.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assemble and manage a committed coaching staff
- Lead by example to establish a culture of accountability, respect, and professionalism
- Promote both academic and athletic achievement
- Develop and distribute organized practice and strength training schedules
- Manage scouting, film breakdown, and in-game strategy
- Execute a year-round recruiting strategy to attract players that are willing to work and have the skills necessary to grow our team.
- Coordinate game scheduling
- Foster communication and collaboration within the team and broader lacrosse community
Administrative Involvement (Shared Responsibility)
- Budget planning and management
- Travel logistics and team spending
- Fundraising initiatives
- Alumni and parent engagement
Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: Starting at $20,000/year (negotiable based on experience)
- Additional budget available for assistant coach salaries
- Incentive bonuses based on performance
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior MCLA coaching experience (head or assistant level)
- Successful head coaching experience at the high school or collegiate level
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships with players, parents, and alumni
- Commitment to building a sustainable and competitive lacrosse program
