PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Behind a 17-save performance from Christopher McPartland, third-seeded Northeastern edged New Hampshire, 10-9, to win the Pioneer Collegiate Lacrosse League Division I championship.

The victory automatically qualifies the Huskies for the 2017 MCLA National Championships powered by Under Armour, which runs from May 8-13 in Orange County, Calif. It’s the fifth appearance for Northeastern at nationals and the first since ’14.

The Huskies built a 4-2 lead at halftime thanks to McPartland and William McGinley, who scored four goals and set up a fifth. The Wildcats made a second-half charge, but the Huskies always had an answer.

Bobby Walker helped the winning effort with a hat trick.

Northeastern enters the national tournament as a No. 14 seed and will face No. 3 Colorado on Monday, May 13.
