ATLANTA- Florida Atlantic entered last weekend's SouthEastern Lacrosse Conference (SELC) tournament in an unfamiliar situation:  they were not the favorites.  The Owls entered as the second seed from the SELC South and thus had to play a quarterfinal game on Friday night and had to win three games in less than 48 hours to win the tournament.    Freshman Nik Perkins returned to his hometown of Jacksonville and led the Owls throughout the tournament.  On Friday night against Kennesaw State Perkins scored five goals and added two assists.  In the semifinals against the SELC North top seed North Florida Perkins added three goals and two assists.  The hometown kid saved his best for the biggest moment as he dropped eight goals in the championship game on Sunday as the Owls avenged a loss to Tampa from earlier in the season.  Perkins was named SELC Tournament MVP following his monster weekend.  In recognition of his efforts, Perkins has been named Warrior MCLA Division II Player of the Week.

Owls head coach Stavros Neocleous said, "Nik has been everything you can ask for in an incoming freshman. His willingness to learn and improve from the fall to now is a testament to the kind of person and player Nik is sure to become. Nik has come up in the biggest spots for the team and has shown the ability to lead as well. Nik has a very bright future and will continue to push himself and the team."

Perkins will receive a Warrior Burn XP2-O head – a $120 value. Warrior is a proud sponsor of the MCLA.
