KISSIMMEE, Fla. – Each week, coaches in the SELC submit their nominations to the SELC Awards Committee for an Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week to be recognized.
Below are the SELC Players of the Week in both divisions for games played from Feb. 13-19:
Division I
Offensive Player of the Week
Ethan Gerber, Florida – Soph., Attack
Gerber led the Gator offense in scoring with a hat trick, to beat the number one ranked team in the country, South Carolina. He would score the game-winning goal with 1:53 remaining in the game.
Defensive Player of the Week
Cole Fox, Florida – Jr., Defense
Fox was spectacular on defense against the Gamecocks over the weekend. He would pick up ten groundballs, be a key element in the clearing game, and caused six turnovers, including an interception and one-man clear on South Carolina's final possession with under a minute remaining, sealing the win.
Division II
Offensive Player of the Week
Vaughn Mauer, North Florida – Jr., Attack
Posted 15 points (14g, 1a) in a 3-0 performance at the Battle by the Bay in Foley, Ala.
Defensive Player of the Week
Grant Shafer, Florida Gulf Coast – Sr., Goalie
Allowed just five goals while making 18 saves in a win over Division I South Florida.
