ATLANTA-  Wake Forest junior goalie Jake Shulkin has been named MCLA Division II PEARL Goalie of the Week.  The junior from Weston, MA made sixteen saves and allowed five goals in a stellar performance against the UNC-Charlotte 49ers.  The Demon Deacons handed the 49ers their first regular-season ALC loss since the league began play in 2022.

Wake Forest head coach Brett Hewitt said, “Jake has been our best-kept secret for the last two years. Sitting behind an All-American like Jack Church isn't easy, but Jake used that time to become one of the most dedicated players on our roster. Since his freshman year, he’s the guy out there before practice even starts, working on his hand-eye coordination and hand speed. We knew we had big shoes to fill this season, but Jake hasn't just filled that role - he’s raised the bar entirely.   What makes him so special as a goalie is his absolute poise. The pressure of the position never gets to him; he’s always out there competing and comes off the field with a smile. He is exactly the kind of young man you want leading your defense.    On top of that, he is genuinely one of the best young men I've had the pleasure of coaching.”

Congratulations to Jake who will receive a PEARL swag bag including PEARL balls, the official ball of the MCLA for his efforts.
