Six Straight for Michigan State

CHELSEA, Mich. – For the sixth time in as many seasons, Michigan State is the Central Collegiate Lacrosse Association champions after the Spartans defeated Pittsburgh, 12-4, on Sunday afternoon.

The win automatically qualifies Michigan State for the 2017 MCLA National Championships powered by Under Armour, which will run from May 8-13 in Orange County, Calif.

This will be the Spartans’ eighth visit to nationals.

In soggy conditions at Chelsea Stadium, Michigan State methodically built a 5-1 lead after the period and the bulge was still five goals at halftime, 9-4. Pittsburgh could not solve the traditionally stingy Spartan defense in the second half.

Michigan State will find out its seed and opponent this evening when the MCLA National Champion brackets are unveiled on MCLA.us.
